‘You are a great yoga teacher & What you taught me helped me heal myself. I want my patients to have access to you because I had an epiphany that I’m going to obviously refer my patients to the best medical doctors I know, the ones who taught me & in the same way my patients should have access to you so want to discuss that!’

C. Williams MD

Thank you so much for this! You have no idea what a blessing this has been for me and for my family!! Truly grateful for all the knowledge passed down and just everything in general. We are raw 70% of the week with 20% of it being just frugivores and we leave one or two meals as regular vegans after having done all the fasts and we are loving this for our body. It has been an amazing journey! I am glad I was able to partake. Thank you again!

Erika Bandy

I want to thank you so very much for making this a priority in your training – I think you and I both know that I didn’t truly appreciate the meaning of touch at first. NOW I get it Thank you for emphasizing it as you do!

I’ve been (somehow) tremendously blessed to have such a wonderful master, and there aren’t enough words to even begin to tell that you’ll forever have my most profound, sincere and infinite appreciation. It will be my most absolute honor if I ever have a chance to take another course with you.

Barbara

Thanks from the bottom of my heart for your beautiful, healing teachings! We met at your studio and you helped me with wrist adjustments..they have really helped and after over 10 years of practicing yoga, in India and NYC your practice is really helping me in every aspect of my life:)

Liah

Thank you Fred for everything! I’m so thankful for the training I had with you last year. It really helped give me the confidence I needed to just go for it, and dive into my dream. It had been lingering there for 6 years, since my training and India.

Daniela

Just want to tell you again how grateful I am to you. I was talking to a group about the biggest thing I learnt from you so far and it would have to be to embrace strength (not saying you’re sorry lol) and never be afraid to be firm yet free flowing.

Jo-Hanna

Thank you for an awesome learning experience! It’s changed mine and my husbands life!! Love you energy! Style! Looking forward to learning Yoga from you also! Be well!

“It wasn’t until three years after teacher training with Fred, that I grasped the impact of everything he taught me. As I partook in classes around the city and got to know other teachers, I started to notice the different perceptions of what it means to be a “yogi”.

Yoga Teacher Training – 5 Tips and Guidelines for How to Be a Great Yoga Teacher

Being a great Yoga Teacher is not easy.   There are a wide spectrum of skills that make the difference between caliber of Yoga Teacher.  A comprehensive Yoga Teacher Training is required to make sure that these skills are addressed and mastered before graduation day!  Great Yoga teachers express a series of characteristics and skills that allow them to become popular and retain students over the course of  the years.  By examining these characteristics and skills it becomes possible to integrate these traits into our yoga teaching and become an even better teacher.

This article examines some of the most important Tips and Guidelines for being a great Yoga Teacher!

5 Essential Tips For Teachers

by Fred Busch, Director of Yoga Teacher Trainings Worldwide

Tip #1 – Be a Yogi and Live Yoga

Being a Yoga Teacher is not about simply having a good career.  Teaching Yoga is not just a regular job like all the rest.  The most important aspect of Great Yoga Teachers is that they live Yoga.  It is OK to be a part time yoga teacher, and full time Yogi… in fact that is ideal!  It is not OK to be a full time yoga teacher while only being a part-time Yogi.  Yoga students can often sense who are the teachers that practice what they teach.

Tip #2 – Teach with Love not Ego

Teaching with an intention of LOVE for your students and teaching with their best interest and safety in mind is a very important attitude.  Students don’t like to be just told what to do for the sake of it… rather they appreciate when a teacher has love in their eyes and is interested in their overall long term wellbeing!

Tip #3 – Apply Yoga to Individuals Safely

Although teaching group yoga classes is common in the West, it is important to remember that Yoga needs o be applied individually to students.  It is not ideal to have everybody doing exactly the same thing when certain people have injuries and others may have other reasons why certain postures are not valuable for them.  Teaching safe yoga classes should be the primary intention for yoga teachers!

Tip #4 – Be Responsible and Prepare to Work Hard

Being successful in any enterprise requires hard work and teaching yoga is no different.  A good work ethic and the ability to be very responsible and dependable and to rarely if ever have substitutes for your classes is one of the hallmarks of the most successful yoga teachers.  If you believe that teaching yoga is an easy career that does not require tenacity, perseverance and hard work…then you are incorrect.

Tip #5 – Always Be a Student and Keep Learning

The only way to be a great teacher is to be a great student.  The ability to keep learning and keep growing in wisdom is the best way to stay of service to your students.  If you as the teacher stop learning and studying then it won’t take long for your students who are enthusiastic and motivated to surpass you in both practice, theory, and understanding.

More Keys to Become the Best Yogi and Yoga Teacher possible!  Take care of yourself first!  Don’t burn the candle at both ends… get lots of rest, sleep good and take naps if your lifestyle permits.  Eat as much fruit as possible before your teach because fruit gives energy and turns on the brain and nervous system making you a better expression of the truths you study!

1. Daily Exercise -Yoga or Swimming are the best and most comprehensive regimens that
offer a lifetime of practice due to their non-repititive stress nature. Exercise every day
provides benefits to your cardiovascular and immune systems, while helping the blood
detoxify and oxygenating the body. There is no way to overstate the value of daily exercise. Exercising for 20-90 minutes each day with no days off ever is ideal. Only in circumstances
of bodily fever or severe illness would we ever skip a day of our practice.

2. Daily Meditation – Yoga Meditation is different from all other forms of meditation in both it’s intention and execution. With Yoga Meditation we discover the role that the subconscous mind plays in the direction of your life and future. We learn that we have been programming ourselves without knowing it with very limiting and innacurate ways of navigating the world. Yoga’s approach to meditation as outlined by Patanjali, and which will be explained by Fred during the program offers a way to accuss the subconscious mind so that we can become masters of our own destiny and experience Samadhi, or identification with the Absolute. 10-60 minutes

3. Vigilance and Awareness are two very important words for us as Yogis (Meditators) –

Awareness is the number one skill on the spiritual path! With Awareness your recognize patterns! Once patterns are recognized they can be transcended. So Awareness is literally like the light!

Vigilance is the most important attribute, and can be described as the relentless execution of awareness. Vigilance is the capacity to not let your awareness turn off for any reason…basically a never-blinking eye that watches the operation of the mind and in ADVANCED YOGA directs it.

It is actually this very watching and witnessing that often leads us to recognize that our identity lies with Consciousness Itself, and not the body or the mind which are subject ot change and not eternal. Vigilance is NOT with self criticism or judgement for what is being watched..but rather with the deepest of compassion and the grandest of sense of humor.
