Why is Compassion so Powerful? Self Analysis vs Self Judgement

Many of us are interested in improving different aspects of our life.  We may notice that things around us are not turning out the way we would preferred in an ideal world.  It is not uncommon for us to look harshly upon past actions that we deemed to me responsible for our predicaments.

Doing this leads us to a place where there is a lack of compassion for ourselves which is not constructive.  Why is compassion so powerful?

We often look back at our past mistakes and attempt to reconcile our reality by determining that we were wrong or bad and that we should be castigated and held to account.

And so begins a process of self analysis that morphs immediately to self judgement and then self attack.

Self Analysis is different from self-criticism and should not be confused. Self Analysis is a useful and important way of determining if we are happy with the results of what we do so we can decide if we wish to continue.

Why is compassion so powerful? Self Analysis vs Self Judgement

Self Analysis is a cold blooded type of scientific analysis that has no associations of judgement or criticism.  When we have compassion for ourselves as we appreciate that we are doing our best we can finally punishing ourselves for mistakes.

Instead of self judgement and self punishment we can have compassion and then simply resolve to not repeat the mistake or pattern and thus we create a space for fortifying ourselves to be stronger in the future.
